I am a writer/bookstore co-owner/mother/grandmother who lives in Southern New Brunswick, Canada. I started this blog as a way of keeping my writing skills sharp – little did I know how much fun it would be! I have met amazing people online – many have become friends. My blog is a mix of a little bit of everything – memories, everyday life, rants, cooking and gardening, to name a few. To learn more about me, please read this post: https://writerwoman61.wordpress.com/2010/06/21/its-all-about-me/
If you enjoy my blog, please click the e-mail subscription button…you’ll get any new posts in your e-mail. Thanks for taking the time to read it!
Dear Wendy, You have warmed my heart with your wonderful writing. I’m trying to figure out how I could share these with Don & Dixie Hone. They are not on facebook but they are on email. Thanks for sharing. Love, Aunt Judy
Oh also Aunt Jerry is only on email.
Hi Aunt Judy:
You could send them this link:
https://writerwoman61.wordpress.com
Then they can come to the blog and put in their e-mail address (“Email subscription” right under picture at top right), and they’ll get an e-mail every time I post a new entry in the blog.
Love,
Wendy
Christine Rice wrote a nice piece on her desire to write a memoir. She asks us to respond to her questions. I did and thought it’d be fun to get a bunch of us responding to her questions. I’d sure like to hear what you and others have to say. Do you mind reading it and commenting if the mood suits?

Hi Kimberly:
Here is a website I use for information:
http://sdrc.lib.uiowa.edu/lucile/
Also, if you go to http://abebooks.com, you can see what other copies of books like yours are being listed for by booksellers.
I would suggest listing it on e-Bay.
Wendy
Hi. I’m new to your blog, via Jane (just call me Jane). What a nice place this is! And may I ask – what is that image in your header?
(By the way, I’ve been waiting for laundry to fold itself for nearly 19 years. Still waiting… so I’ve gone the way of laundry art installations, also know as two chairs heaped with clean clothes. Ah, the advantages of boys. They don’t care about wrinkles.)
Hi BigLittleWolf:
Thanks for stopping by…
The story of my header is here: https://writerwoman61.wordpress.com/2010/06/23/my-new-header-or-how-i-discovered-my-hidden-artistic-talent/
I wish my laundry fit on two chairs! We have three teenage girls and one teenage boy still at home, plus me and Jim, and my dad (but he never has much laundry). I haven’t ironed anything in years…
Wendy
I’ve recently started a blog too – it’s so much fun to write and to meet people far and wide! I loved your top 10 songs – many of them resonate!
Hi sunshine:
I’m so glad you stopped by! I’ve left some comments over on your amazing blog!
Wendy
Hi Wendy….
I tagged Oma and Todd and figured one or both will tag you, but I’m going to do so as well.
Tag! The questions are over at the Cahier. 🙂
P.S. Great musicians over there —–>

I didn’t know you were in New Brunswick. I’m in PEI. Let’s meet on the bridge sometime.

That’s cool, Charles! We often vacation on the Island…in fact, my Christmas present from Jim is a long weekend getaway some time before “high season.” Our favourite place to stay is near North Rustico (Dreamweavers Cottages). I’ll certainly send you an e-mail when we have a date! Wendy
Just got your message. I’d be honoured! Happy Blogiversary!
Thanks, Leanne! Wendy
hi wendy , i like your blog and will be back again , but a bit of advice that you will get from the experts on the forum also , the TOTAL number of categories and tags should be 9 or 10 ( more is not better as timethief says ) the search engines tend to look at it as spamming.
also installing the ” read more ” button in the posts saves scrolling the front page , if they like what they read they can click the button.
hope you dont mind this comment , harry
Thank you for your comments, Harry…I’ll take your advice in the spirit it was given! I’ll try to find out how to put the “Read More” button in… I’ll probably leave my categories and tags alone…I really don’t think a lot of people find me that way anyway! I’ll check out your place too! Wendy
ok wendy , its just that you would get more readers if you did it , because a lot of your posts are being ignored by goggle, yahoo and the other search engines , harry
Congratulations for your blog. Your posts are very interesting.
Welcome to Hammond River, Josè! Wendy
Thanks Wendy,
you’re invited to peek into my tin box: http://parolesemplici.wordpress.com/mytinbox/
Hi Wendy!
Greetings and congratulations!
Just wanted you to know, I’ve just bestowed upon you the Kreativ Blogger Award. You can visit my blog to see why!
I’ve been reading your blog for a few months and I’m not really sure why it didn’t occur to me until now, but I think I missed going into your store by about >< that much last summer. My boyfriend and I were on a cruise that stopped in Saint John's for a day (it was our first cruise ever, and let's say it was a good thing there was a stop every day!). Neither one of us can visit a new place without looking for bookstores, so we poked around, and although we came very close to your street, I don't think we walked down it. Drat! We found some stores but nothing really satisfied us. I think yours is the store we should have been looking for! 🙂
As it was, between a couple of stores in Boston, Newport and Halifax, we both went home with 8-10 'new' books apiece.
Congrats on the Freshly Pressed three-peat! 🙂
That’s neat, limr…I hope you’ll seek us out if you’re ever in Saint John again! I used to sell cruises for a national travel agency, so I know a fair bit about the cruise business too! My dad and I have a joke about the cruise ship passengers…we call those few that find us “the escapees” because they were brave enough to venture off the beaten path, and didn’t get roped into the shore excursions! If we’re lucky, we get a couple off of each ship! Freshly Pressed is always fun…just getting around to visiting new people who commented today (because 50+ blogs isn’t quite enough for me to follow!)… Glad you commented…I see you over at Clay’s place, too! Wendy
It’s me again! 🙂
An award for you is ready for pick up at http://asalinguist.wordpress.com/2011/06/06/and-the-winner-goes-to/

Thanks, Vickie…just finished my job today, so I hope to be back in Blogland soon! Hugs, Wendy

Absolutely! (The background is very nice!)
Wendy, I have been looking for a copy of the 1959 Better Homes CookBook. I am so sorry I updated my copy and sold the old one in a yard sale. Would you please send me a copy of the brownie recipe. I have been looking for it ever since I discovered it was missing from the newer book. I enjoyed melting the unsweetened chocolate in the double burner pot and would love to cook my wife the recipe that was my childhood favorite. James majabnwiley@earthlink.net
Hi James: I sent you a private message…I think it’s sweet that you want to make brownies for your wife…she’s a lucky lady!
Wendy
Dear Wendy,
Trust you’re doing absolutely fine.
First of all your blogs are really insighyful and thoughtful to read, great work.
Well, I came across your blog when I was searching on Life in Saint john NB, as I am a newcomer to Canada living in Brampton, ON for past 6 months and now got an opportunity to work for a reputed IT org in Saint john so was researching on how it would be to live & work over there, We are a family of 3 (have a small kid 3 yrs old) and cant really make out as to how it would be in terms of schooling & health care services.
It would be really great if you can guide me on life in saint john, what to expect and what not, cost of living etc.
btw what is the best place to stay in Saint john.
Really appreciate your any kind of help and support.
Thanks in advance.
Hi GRV: Thank you for your question…a lot of the answers can be found in the post “Top Ten Things I Love About Saint John, New Brunswick” : https://writerwoman61.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/top-ten-things-i-love-about-saint-john-new-brunswick/ If you read through all the comments, there is a lot of info in there. I also suggest visiting our city website: http://www.saintjohn.ca For schools, here is the School District website: http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/asd-s/Pages/welcome.aspx Healthwise, it’s a bit difficult for newcomers to our province…there is a shortage of family doctors here, and a waiting list. There is also usually a long wait to see any kind of specialist. Our Saint John Regional Hospital is the Heart Centre for the Maritimes, and also serves as a teaching hospital for med students from Dalhousie University in Halifax. Hopefully, this has been helpful! Wendy
